REFUGEE SUPPORT
In 2023, more than 110 million people were forcibly displaced due to crises such as wars, conflicts, climate change-based disasters. In Türkiye which hosts approximately 4 million refugees according to official figures, we supported life to ensure refugees that became even more vulnerable due to disasters and deepening poverty could access core rights and services.
In our activity fields including the earthquake region we focused on protection and livelihood support in our refugee support programs.
PROTECTION
Individualized protection interventions: Our social workers informed refugees on issues such as health, education, registration and legal support through one-to-one discussions, and referred them to relevant institutions when necessary. We provided legal support to prevent loss of rights.
Mental health and psychosocial support: We supported adults and children to resolve difficulties arising from negative life experiences; we aimed to improve their well-being. Support Groups Program where beneficiaries take role, we pursued community based psychosocial support activities.
Information sessions: We continued organizing session on subjects such as education, health, accommodation, protection, registration, social assistance, access to core services such as using e-state services, children’s rights, negative effects of child labor, prevention of early/child marriages, women’s rights, and gender equality.
Information and Support Line: Especially in the aftermath of the earthquake, the Information and Support Hotline worked intensively to provide support not only to refugees but also to all those affected by the disaster.
Social cohesion and social inclusion: We conducted a project to improve social inclusion between refugees and members of the local community working together at textile workshops. We added session subjects on coexistence and social include, supporting individuals with disabilities to access rights and services and strengthening parents/caregivers in our awareness and psycho-training sessions.

“In the geography where I grew up, people fear women that speak up. I was thinking the same thing. After discussing the issue of gender equality in support group sessions, I learned how to have a different perspective. And I understood that equality is more comfortable for both genders."
“Everyone work non-stop on the line. People cannot communicate much during lunch or breaks. I am pleased to be able to chat during these workshops. So we've been communicating. For example I mentioned a small dream I have. My boss found out about it.”
